PEAK Boot Camp in Full Swing, Announce Twitter Hashtag
August 28, 2010 by admin
Wow, the camp is underway! After an incredibly close, shockingly evenly matched, pathetic-for-the-staff hockey game last night, we’re all slightly aching but ready to go for the first full day at the PEAK Performance Project Boot Camp! Grant Lawrence from CBC Radio 3 is teaching our PEAK Artists the finer points of making friends with the media downstairs while we catch up with all the great content that’s been created by our Top 20 PEAK Artists in preparation for the camp! We’ve got a new Video page set up with clips from the camp, challenges and whatever other video content we just have to share with you!
We also introduced the new official Twitter hashtag for all PEAK Performance Project related Tweets, check out #PeakPP to see what’s happening!
Challenges for our Top 20!
Every year our Top 20 artists are given a set of challenges to complete. The goal of these challenges is to help the artist grow in areas that may need work, show off their artistic creativity, and give the judges something to critique!
Here are the 5 challenges set forth for the Top 20 of 2010:
1. Your first challenge is to create and document a viral video marketing you/your band being chosen for the top 20 of the PEAK Performance Project.
2. Play well known Canadian cover song in your set at the Red Room – make it your own!
3. Draft a proposal (not more than 5 pages) and budget (on excel spreadsheet) as to how you would spend the grand prize of $100.5 Thousand Dollars.
4. Public marketing initiative – street team or other grassroots, street level campaign – document for the final committee to review.
5. Give back to the community! Create a synergy between a community charity or group in need – document for the final committee to review.
Keep up-to-date with their progress on our PEAK Performance Project Facebook Page!
Good luck to our artists!
Red Room Hosts 2010 PEAK Performance Project, Concert Series
June 30, 2010 by admin
100.5 The PEAK and Music BC are excited to announce this year’s venue for the PEAK Performance Project Concert Series is the Red Room on Richard’s.
The Red Room has just undergone a complete interior face lift and sound system overhaul making it one of the best new live music venues in Vancouver!
They are ready to host the PEAK Performance Project Top 20 – 2010 Edition!
With a massive dance floor, lots of seating, multiple bars and 500 person capacity, there’s plenty of room for fun and great music at Red Room even on a sold out night.
The PEAK Performance Project Concert Series kicks off September 9th and runs every Thursday for five consecutive weeks. Each artist will perform in front of a panel of judges who will rate their stage presence, musical ability, songwriting, crowd reaction and what we like to call the ‘X’ factor or their ‘star power’.
Live performance judging is one part of the overall assessment of each artist.
And check out the amazing Top 20 line up!
Adaline, Kuba Oms, 41st and Home, Acres of Lions, Aidan Knight, Behind Sapphire, Bodhi Jones, Christina Maria, Christopher Arruda, Debra-Jean, Greg Sczebel, Jess Hill, Kyprios, Parlour Steps, Said the Whale, Steph Macpherson, Vince Vaccaro, and Yes Nice.
Plus there are two new additions to the top 20 – Ben Sigston and YUCA – Dehli 2 Dublin and The Racoons had to bow out of this year’s Project due to scheduling conflicts.
All of the top 20 artists got together for their Orientation Day on June 12th at the Biltmore Cabaret. It was an incredible day of bonding where they were introduced to the PEAK Performance Project faculty, each other, and Tom Jackson, live performance coach, who gave them a motivating workshop on how to make their live shows sizzle.
Next up, The PEAK Performance Project Boot Camp. A week long opportunity to learn from the industry experts at Rock Ridge Canyon Resort starting August 27th.
