SHOREFEST is now entering its 6th year as one of Vancouver’s largest, free community concert series.

Started in 2009 in conjunction with the Celebration of Light fireworks, SHOREFEST showcases some of Canada’s top musical acts in one of Vancouver’s most picturesque settings on the shores of English Bay. Over the course of 3 nights in the summer, hundreds of thousands of spectators gather at English Bay to enjoy the fireworks presentations while being entertained by acts on stages located on the Bathhouse Roof at English Bar and in the park at Sunset Beach.

saidthewhale_falltour_smallSAID THE WHALE ANNOUNCES FALL TOUR!

“Nothing makes the summer pass like already having your plans laid out for the fall. But it’s unavoidable. Our plans are to hit the road again, this time for just a short stint down the west coast of America. Check out the cool poster designed by Jared Sitter.

Please pass on our tour dates to anyone you may know in the area so they don’t miss us this time around. Hope to see you at the shows!

Based in Vancouver with roots in Montreal, the Belle Game makes a cool brand of dark pop music. We interviewed them ahead of a local show last year, and now they’re coming back to town to play Osheaga on Aug. 2. Here’s what they have to say about this new, made-in-Montreal video for “Wait Up for You”: “Montreal is hugely important to the band — it’s inspired us, been our home, our retreat, and our obstacle. This video is our Madonna-esque, tour-diary-styled love letter to the times we’ve spent there and things we hope never change. We rarely cross paths with Kheaven (director); so we wanted to make sure we worked on something while we could. Long story short, this was our evening together.” Watch it HERE.

A press release describes Alexandria Maillot‘s new single as a “melty ice cream sandwich on the boardwalk.” If that sounds as good to you as it does to us, you might want to give the song a listen.
“Time (On Your Own)” sports the Vancouver-based vocalist’s sensitive coos, but the real focus hear is on the upbeat hip-hop rhythms and glimmering, sun-kissed guitar loops. Expect this tune to appear on Maillot’s forthcoming album, due out this fall. Stream “Time (On Your Own)” HERE or download it HERE on Bandcamp.
