Acres of Lions

Biography Acres Of Lions is a pop/rock band from the island city of Victoria, BC. Their recorded music takes cues from early 90′s emo bands like The Get Up Kids and Jimmy Eat World, while their energetic live performances fall into the more sweaty punk rock realm of all-ages concert halls and rundown bars. In response to one of the band’s 100+ Canadian concert dates in 2009, Exclaim Magazine wrote: “This is definitely a band to keep on the radar!” Their sophomore album, entitled “Collections”, is currently in production and will be released through Cordova Bay Records / Fontana North in September 2011. In contrast to Acres Of Lions previous releases, this album focuses more on songs and performances rather than slick production. As one local radio DJ commented, “the new demos simply sound more Canadian” than the band’s 2009 debut album. When asked about the new sound, bassist Dan Ball cited Acres Of Lions inclusion in Music BC’s 2010 Peak Performance Project, an artist development initiative featuring the Top acts in BC, as an “experience that opened our eyes to what other local bands were doing, and changed the way we think about our music”.
