Avairis

Avairis
Duff got an early start as a guitar player in the family band and
toured the rural community areas. At the age of 16, yearning for
excitement and in trouble with all forms of authority, he hopped a
freight train bound for a destination unknown, embarking on a two-year
adventure across the United States with only his guitar. Returning to
Canada to complete his commercial pilots’ license at the age of 21, he
would fly in the summer months then trek south to the tropics where he
would spend his days frolicking in the surf and gigging by night.
Disaster struck in the summer of 2007 when his aircraft clipped a
power line and came crashing to the ground. Due to partial loss of use
in his fret hand, he had little choice but to re-string his guitar and
learn to play left-handed. Timmy first picked up the guitar when he
was 14 years old. Talented beyond reason and with a keen sense for the
craft, he excelled above his musical peers. Armed with his sharp wit
and offside humor, his diverse style ranging from foot-stompin’
traveling songs to psychedelic rock ballads gave him a truly unique
edge. Attending an open mic in Victoria, Duff first met Timmy after
watching him take the stage and silence the room with his intense
energy and scratchy Joplin-like vocals. The two bonded immediately.
Mark grew up in the suburbs of Mississauga Ontario and began playing
drums at the age of 11. His ever-cool demeanor and keen sense of
rhythm caught Duffs attention at an open jam in Victoria, where the
two began to build a friendship. Shortly after, Avairis was formed.
