Jasper Sloan Yip

Jasper Sloan Yip’s career began in the summer of 2007 with the release of his solo debut, ‘White Elephant’. A bootstrapped project, ‘White Elephant’ is honest, rough and imaginative. After the release, Jasper spent ten months traveling, and writing what became 2010’s ‘Every Day and All at Once’. This album’s first single, “Kiddo,” began receiving frequent play on CBC Radio 3 just weeks after studio work had wrapped. When the album was released in March 2010, Jasper had performed live on CBC Radio 1 two times and recorded a seven-song CBC Radio 3 Sessions Podcast. His next single, “Slowly,” spent 10 weeks on CBC Radio 3’s top 30, peaking at #4. Jasper’s final accomplishment in 2010 was having his song “Today” appear in an episode of ABC’s ‘Brothers and Sisters’. Since then, Jasper and his band shared bills with Said the Whale, the Dudes, and Library Voices, as well as showcased at festivals like BreakOut West and Canada Music Fest. Currently, Jasper and his band are hard at work preparing for a new release and their first Canadian tour, which will include performances at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival and Calgary’s Sled Island.
