Lindsay Bryan

Before the dawn of DIY myspace promotion and the barrage of online wannabes, Lindsay Bryan was hard at work plotting her musical destiny. Raised on British Columbia’s Southern Gulf Islands, Lindsay found her passion at a young age. At 5, Lindsay was enrolled in piano lessons but she wouldn’t discover her true calling as a songwriter until she picked up a guitar at age 11. Self taught, Lindsay drew inspiration from infectious 90’s pop/rock, hoping to become a guitar legend playing amongst the big boys. However, those rock god dreams tapered when she discovered the release she felt while penning her acoustic folk/pop tunes.
Lindsay moved away from the islands to broaden her opportunities in Victoria, BC. She recorded her first demo’s with producer Daniel Elmes (Dan Mangan, Sweatshop Union) and submitted them to the David Foster Star Search competetion, earning a spot in the top 10 of her region. In 2007 she entered a Battle of the Bands competetion with judges that included Neil Osborne, Warne Livesey, Nick Blasko and Piers Henwood. Lindsay came out on top and received the grand prize: studio time with producer and Armchair Cynics guitarist, Adam Sutherland.
Lindsay’s music is a crossroad of clever acoustic folk and pop driven indie rock. Her lyrics are reflections of hope, social awkwardness, with subtle stabs of animosity. In 2010 she recorded her debut EP, Skyscraper, produced by Ted Gowans of Tegan and Sara, and coproduced by Sutherland. With the help of Shaun Huberts and Johhny Andrews (also of T&S), Skyscraper was shaped into a collection of songs that has something for everyone. To be released this spring, keep yours eyes and ears open for Lindsay Bryan’s debut and her undoubtedly blossoming career.
