Rococode

Rococode
Rococode is an unfamiliar band made up of familiar faces. Dueling boy/girl lead vocals of Laura Smith and Andrew Braun are surrounded and supported by a punishing rhythm section of Shaun Huberts and Johnny Andrews. Their bold take on indie pop is equal parts arty, accessible, sexy, sweet, badass, bent and beautiful. The band’s members boast an impressive collective resume that reads like a who’s who of the burgeoning Canadian Indie scene. They have spent years honing their craft on the road with the likes of Tegan & Sara, Dan Mangan, Hannah Georgas, Said the Whale, Elias and many more. For their yet to be released debut Guns, Sex and Glory the band teamed up with producer Ryan Guldemond of Mother Mother and strung together a collection of surprisingly catchy songs that explore a full gamut of sonic possibilities but still stand together as a cohesive whole. The album was then shipped to Texas for mixing by Grammy nominated producer/mixer/engineer John Congleton who has worked with the likes St. Vincent, The Walkmen, David Byrne and many more. In a brief six months playing live, Rococode has showcased at Breakout West and Canadian Music Week, opened for sold out Mother Mother shows in Toronto and Victoria. Later this spring they will play the famed Commodore Ballroom and will venture out of province to play at the Sled Island festival. Their “apocalyptic rocker” Weapon has been seeing airplay on The Zone 93.1 in Victoria, Evolution 107.9 in Vancouver, 98.1 The River in Asheville, North Carolina and they will be featured on 100.5 The Peak in the first week of May. Rococode is clearly a band on the move and will undoubtedly soon become a familiar band of familiar faces.
