The Boom Booms

Based out of East-Vancouver, The Boom Booms are a six-piece Latin-soul-reggae-rock band. Their blend of music is inspired by extensive travels through Latin countries (Spain, Cuba, Brazil, Central America,) a curiosity for traditional African rhythms and their roots in North American popular music. Call it what you will, they play music that makes people want to dance. Lead singer Aaron Nazrul released his debut album, Butterfly Man, in 2007. He then compiled a band of family and friends to perform this music with. The talented lineup now includes, Geordie Hart on bass, Sean Ross on vocals, Tom Van Deursen on guitar, Theo Vincent on percussion, and Richard Brinkman on drums. They are know as The Boom Booms. At home, The Boom Booms have received a number of accolades beginning with the music video for their feel-good party anthem “When the Night” making it to #6 on the Much More Music countdown. The song “Delivered,” earned the award for Best Roots Song at the Just Plain Folks Music Awards and is consequently featured in their latest music video. The Boom Booms have won audiences and promoters at BC music festivals earning them spots in 2011 festivals such as the Big Time Out, Komasket, Shambhala and Songfest Malkin Bowl. The Boom Booms have also toured across Canada, the U.S.A., Central America and Europe, by way of: festivals, busking, picking up gigs, living in campers and goodwill from couch owners everywhere. The life style of a touring, and often broke, band has become second nature. The music they play embodies this ‘joy de vivre.’ With Their debut album, ‘Hot Rum’, slated to be released in early july 2011, The Boom Booms are excited to hit the road and spread the love again.
