The Matinée

The Matinée
The stomp and cheer of dancing shoes on sticky wooden floors. 3 a.m. phone calls of raw soul emotions. A long drive down a dirt road into the sunrise. Music to drink to. Music to dance to. Music to sit on the porch and ponder. Laughter, hangover….The Matinée.Their roots-rock sounds evoke memories of family camping trips, men with guitars around the campfire belting out tunes of broken things & the open road. Formed in 2007, The Matinée has paid its dues touring constantly on the vast Canadian club circuit. These life-long friends have embarked on multiple provincial and national tours, including their involvement with the B.C. Arts Council’s Artstarts Program and the B.C. Schizophrenia Society’s Reachout Tour. In the past two years alone The Matinée performed for more than 25,000 college and high school students, as well as the CDN Armed Forces and the inmates of several prisons. Their hardwork has not gone unnoticed as they were nominated for Best Roots Artist in the 2010 BCCMA awards performing at the award show. Other highlights of 2010 included stellar showcases at Canadian Music Week and COCA, a top-ten finish in 104.3 The SHORE’s Summer Song Search, inclusion on the Music BC compilation CD, a Factor Demo Award, several high-profile performances including the Men’s Hockey Semi-Final at Gm Place during the Vancouver Olympics and the Sunset Beach Stage at English Bay prior to the Festival Of Lights, and their first year as a profitable business! Currently the band is hard at work in preparation for a new album which is slated for release late 2011/early 2012. Raise a glass, and raise a curtain…it’s show time for The Matinée!
