Last Minute FAQ's

For those of you hurrying to get in your applications, here are a few last minute questions to help you out:

DEADLINE TIME: Has officially been pushed back until 11:59pm PST.  But please note that the Music BC office closes at 5:00, so you will not be able to call with questions after that time!

STATUS: Once you hit “submit”, we have received your package. It might take some time before the light changes to green and “received”, but don’t fret – you’re good to go!

TIME STAMPS: If you were able to hit “submit”, we received your application and it will be considered, regardless of the time it was stamped with.

SOLO VS BAND: If you are unsure which way to categorize yourself, here are a few things to consider – if you say “band”, your whole band becomes part of the contest legally – they are all required to be at all the events, and will all have to sign the required contracts. If you say “solo artist”, you can still invite musicians to attend the Boot Camp with you, and perform at your showcase, but you are solely responsible for the contracts etc.

AGE RESTRICTIONS: Every band member must be 19 by the deadline for application (April 30th, 2010)

WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT: The top 20 will be announced live on-air at 100.5 the PEAK fm (and online at: http://thepeak.fm) at 3:15pm, Monday May 31st, 2010.  All applicants will be emailed after that time with their status.

And GOOD LUCK!

The second year of The PEAK Performance Project will launch on March 19, 2010 when online applications will be opened to the public until April 30, 2010.

Year two of The PEAK Performance Project will see an increase of overall funding to B.C. artists from $275,000 to $315,000 in development cash awards and will see all Top 20 artists receive artist development funding. The 1st place artist will receive $100,500, 2nd is $75,000, 3rd is $50,000, 4th is $10,000, 5th is $5,000 and all 20 finalists will receive $3500 each in initial artists development funding. In addition to this, all of this year’s 20 finalists will receive a showcase spot at The Kelowna 2010 BreakOut West Festival presented by the Western Canadian Music Alliance October 21–24, 2010.

The Top 20 Artists will be announced on May 31st followed by the PEAK Performance Orientation (June 12, 2010), Boot Camp (August 27–Sept 3, 2010) and the PEAK Performance Concert Series (Sept–Oct 2010).
