PEAK PERFORMANCE PROJECT LAUNCHES YEAR FOUR

Over Two Million Dollars Invested In B.C Artist Development In First Three Years

100.5 The PEAK and Music BC are pleased to announce that applications open today for The PEAK Performance Project Year 4! Over 2 million dollars has already been invested into the BC music community by the project, and now in their fourth year another $320,000 will be awarded to British Columbia artists to support the province’s burgeoning music scene.

In the first three years, the program has seen participants win multiple JUNO Awards, tour internationally, release numerous critically acclaimed albums, and create strong identities for the emerging Canadian acts.

After a grueling six month program, including an industry boot camp and juried showcases, the Top 5 will be announced on November 2nd, 2012, followed by a Finale Concert at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver. Awards for Year 4 will be as follows:

First place 100.5 Thousand Dollars
Second Place $75,000
Third Place $50,000
Fourth Place $10,000
Fifth Place $5,000
Base camp awards totaling $80,000

Assistant Program Director of 100.5 The PEAK , Tamara Stanners adds, “For us, the PEAK Performance Project has become an integral part of what 100.5 the PEAK is.The artists that we have had the immense pleasure of getting to know and support through the project have become almost synonymous of who we are as a radio station. I cannot wait to see who will come through our doors in the PEAK Performance Project 2012 edition. We are super excited to fall in love with 20 new artists.

100.5 The PEAK is committed to the development of new and emerging BC music artists. The PEAK Performance Project is designed to educate, promote, develop and hopefully launch the careers of some of BC’s up and coming artists. It also hopes to foster the BC music industry and create a sense of community amongst music professionals.

The PEAK is investing five million two hundred and ninety thousand ($5,290,000) over seven years or seven hundred and fifty-five thousand dollars ($755,000) per year in the PEAK Performance Project through CTRC approved Canadian Content Development funds. The program is administered by the Music BC Industry Association.

2011 Winners Announced!

Tonight, November 17th 2011 at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, the PEAK Performance Project announced the rankings of their top 3 artists!

  • 1st place, winning $100,500: Current Swell!
  • 2nd place, taking home $75,000: The Boom Booms!
  • 3rd place, with $50,000: the Matinee!

As stated in our previous post, the online application process will open Monday March 14th and will run until Friday April 29th, 2011. Following an adjudication process, the 2011 PEAK Performance Project Top 20 will be announced live on air on Monday May 30th, 2011 on 100.5 The PEAK (you can tune in on your radio, or listen live 24/7 at ThePEAK.fm).

In addition, this year the PEAK Top 20 will perform a Showcase at the Surrey Canada Day this year, July 1st, 2011, and Boot Camp is officially scheduled for August 26th—September 2nd, 2011. Stay tuned as we release more details!

PEAK Concert Series at The Red Room

The next round in the PEAK Performance Project will be the PEAK Concert Series commencing September 9th, 2010. The PEAK Performance will involve a series of showcases at The Red Room at 398 Richards St., Vancouver. Each artist will showcase for a panel of judges who will adjudicate the artists based on stage presence, musical ability, songwriting, crowd reaction and other such criteria as determined in the sole discretion of the PPP committee. Live performance judging will form part of the overall assessment of each artist.

Doors open at 8:00pm with the show starting at 9:00pm. Tickets are free and valid until 10:00pm, subject to capacity. Listen to The PEAK 100.5 to win tickets!

Red Room Hosts 2010 PEAK Performance Project, Concert Series

100.5 The PEAK and Music BC are excited to announce this year’s venue for the PEAK Performance Project Concert Series is the Red Room on Richard’s.

The Red Room has just undergone a complete interior face lift and sound system overhaul making it one of the best new live music venues in Vancouver!

They are ready to host the PEAK Performance Project Top 20 – 2010 Edition!

With a massive dance floor, lots of seating, multiple bars and 500 person capacity, there’s plenty of room for fun and great music at Red Room even on a sold out night.

The PEAK Performance Project Concert Series kicks off September 9th and runs every Thursday for five consecutive weeks. Each artist will perform in front of a panel of judges who will rate their stage presence, musical ability, songwriting, crowd reaction and what we like to call the ‘X’ factor or their ‘star power’.

Live performance judging is one part of the overall assessment of each artist.

Adaline, Kuba Oms, 41st and Home, Acres of Lions, Aidan Knight, Behind Sapphire, Bodhi Jones, Christina Maria, Christopher Arruda, Debra-Jean, Greg Sczebel, Jess Hill, Kyprios, Parlour Steps, Said the Whale, Steph Macpherson, Vince Vaccaro, and Yes Nice.

Plus there are two new additions to the top 20 – Ben Sigston and YUCA – Dehli 2 Dublin and The Racoons had to bow out of this year’s Project due to scheduling conflicts.

All of the top 20 artists got together for their Orientation Day on June 12th at the Biltmore Cabaret. It was an incredible day of bonding where they were introduced to the PEAK Performance Project faculty, each other, and Tom Jackson, live performance coach, who gave them a motivating workshop on how to make their live shows sizzle.

Next up, The PEAK Performance Project Boot Camp. A week long opportunity to learn from the industry experts at Rock Ridge Canyon Resort starting August 27th.

The PEAK Performance Project: Year 2

100.5 The PEAK and Music B.C Announce March 19th Launch Date for The 2010 PEAK Performance Project.  Who will win 100.5 thousand dollars?

Still glowing from being awarded The 2010 Radio “Promotion of the Year” at Canadian Music Week’s “Canadian Music and Broadcast Industry Awards”, Music BC and 100.5 The PEAK are back for year two of the PEAK Performance Project. The second year of The PEAK Performance Project will launch on March 19, 2010 when online applications will be opened to the public until April 30, 2010.

Year two of The PEAK Performance Project will see an increase of overall funding to B.C. artists from $275,000 to $315,000 in development cash awards and will see all Top 20 artists receive artist development funding. The 1st place artist will receive $100,500, 2nd is $75,000, 3rd is $50,000, 4th is $10,000, 5th is $5,000 and all 20 finalists will receive $3500 each in initial artists development funding. In addition to this, all of this year’s 20 finalists will receive a showcase spot at The Kelowna 2010 BreakOut West Festival presented by the Western Canadian Music Alliance October 21–24, 2010.

The Top 20 Artists will be announced on May 31st followed by the PEAK Performance Orientation (June 12, 2010), Boot Camp (August 27–Sept 3, 2010) and the PEAK Performance Concert Series (Sept–Oct 2010). The final three artists will be announced on November 1st followed by the final showcase and the crowing of the ultimate PEAK performer in late November at the Commodore Ballroom, Vancouver. Last year the PEAK Performance Project awarded Kelowna, B.C.’s We Are The City with a grand prize of $150,000. Vancouver’s The Left and Bend Sinister received second and third place, respectively.

The $5.29 million PEAK Performance Project is designed to educate, promote, develop and hopefully launch the careers of some of British Columbia’s top emerging artists. It also hopes to foster the province’s music industry and create a sense of community amongst music professionals. In addition to the rigorous six month artist development program and the $315,000.00 in artist development funding, The Pattison Group of Companies will also contribute an annual media credit of $1,000,000.00 in support of the PEAK Performance Project by marketing, promoting and advertising the PEAK Performance Project and the participating artists making it the largest individual radio station project in Canada.

Congratulations to our PEAK Performance Artists of 2009 – We Are The City! They take home the PEAK Summit award of $150,00 towards career development. Taking the second place (and still massive) award of $75,000 is The Left! And sharing in the huge prize money is Bend Sinister with an award of $50,000!

All our top 3 bands put on an amazing sold-out show at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver on January 22nd, where the rankings were announced.
