PEAK PERFORMANCE PROJECT LAUNCHES YEAR FOUR

Over Two Million Dollars Invested In B.C Artist Development In First Three Years

100.5 The PEAK and Music BC are pleased to announce that applications open today for The PEAK Performance Project Year 4! Over 2 million dollars has already been invested into the BC music community by the project, and now in their fourth year another $320,000 will be awarded to British Columbia artists to support the province’s burgeoning music scene.

APPLY NOW!

In the first three years, the program has seen participants win multiple JUNO Awards, tour internationally, release numerous critically acclaimed albums, and create strong identities for the emerging Canadian acts.

What artists are saying about the Project:

“ …to be given financial support of this magnitude is absolutely incredible. Life-changing, in fact.” Tyler Bancroft, Said the Whale

“…it doesn’t feel like a competition, it feels like a community.” Kuba Oms

“…not only did I learn a lot about myself musically, but I felt like the experience actually changed me as a person. Boot Camp truly is about forming a network and a community and the culmination of meaningful relationships I formed over that week, was a prize in itself.” Jean-Paul Maurice

After a grueling six month program, including an industry boot camp and juried showcases, the Top 5 will be announced on November 2nd, 2012, followed by a Finale Concert at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver. Awards for Year 4 will be as follows:

First place 100.5 Thousand Dollars
Second Place $75,000
Third Place $50,000
Fourth Place $10,000
Fifth Place $5,000
Base camp awards totaling $80,000

Says Bob D’Eith, Executive Director of Music BC, “100.5 The PEAK has given BC artists a real chance to succeed in today’s changing music world. It is the most impactful BC based program that we have had the honour to be involved with. The PEAK Performance Project is changing musician’s lives in a profound way.”

Assistant Program Director of 100.5 The PEAK , Tamara Stanners adds, “For us, the PEAK Performance Project has become an integral part of what 100.5 the PEAK is.The artists that we have had the immense pleasure of getting to know and support through the project have become almost synonymous of who we are as a radio station. I cannot wait to see who will come through our doors in the PEAK Performance Project 2012 edition. We are super excited to fall in love with 20 new artists.

100.5 The PEAK is committed to the development of new and emerging BC music artists. The PEAK Performance Project is designed to educate, promote, develop and hopefully launch the careers of some of BC’s up and coming artists. It also hopes to foster the BC music industry and create a sense of community amongst music professionals.

The PEAK is investing five million two hundred and ninety thousand ($5,290,000) over seven years or seven hundred and fifty-five thousand dollars ($755,000) per year in the PEAK Performance Project through CTRC approved Canadian Content Development funds. The program is administered by the Music BC Industry Association.

We wrapped up our House Concerts for Habitat for Humanity series this weekend and we were absolutely BLOWN away by each evening’s success! Each show was different than the next, as we were in different homes each night with different musicians, and each show exceeded our expecations. We sold out two out of three nights and raised enough money to put windows on a house! We will be donating the proceeds to both Victoria Habitat for Humanity and Greater Vancouver Habitat for Humanity. Thanks so much to our three generous hosts, all the musicians; Dom Fricot, David Vertesi, David Ward, Funktapus, Nadia Von Hahn, Ryan Guldemond and Sidney York, all the attendees, and those of you who tuned in on ustream from around the world! You are able to view our performances on ustream for the next week. (Just a warning, the quality is nothing special.) Here’s the link: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/roco-stream

We also wrapped up our Habitat for Humanity Contest yesterday. Thanks to everyone who submitted! Each entry was unique, touching, and fully encompassed what Habitat for Humanity is all about. Thanks for taking the time out of your lives to be a part of our awareness campaign. We hope we have encouraged some volunteers, donations or helped educate people on what Habitat for Humanity does in our local community and over 100 countries around the world.

As promised each entry will recieve a free digital Weapon/Empire EP and the top entries will receive a unique Rococode prize pack.

And without furthur adieu, here are the winners!

Gordan T. Watts – Shims for Bolivia
Gordon, from New Westminster, BC, will be volunteering for Habitat for Humanity in Bolivia this December. Instead of bringing “dangerous” tools on his flight, he is bringing a suitcase full of Shims/Wedges that can be used when installing cabinets, windows, doors and joists. He mailed us a small pack of these along with a handwritten letter!
