Ken Beattie is the founder and national publicity director of Killbeat Music. Working in genres from Folk to Jazz, Indie Rock to Hip Hop, Pop to Blues and Electronica to Country, Killbeat is an award winning national media company that has launched over 400 albums by 200 + different artists in the last 8 years from every corner of Canada and in between as well as the US, and Europe.

Killbeat has a team of 3 experienced media savvy music lovers that work in print, radio, visual and online/digital media outlets to create a well rounded and symbiotic publicity strategy that has seen more than 7 dozen albums reach #1 in the last 6 years on the national college/campus charts including the # 1 albums of the year in 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011 and an average of half of the year end top 10 on the national Folk/Roots Chart the last 5 years including the # 1 albums in 2009, 2010 & 2011. The CBC Radio 3 Chart is almost never without 3 or 4 Killbeat albums in their top 30 and 1 or 2 in the top 10 and almost all killbeat releases receive national radio features or airplay at some point.

Killbeat has cover stories, features and reviews running on a regular basis in national and regional print media outlets and countless amounts of online ink. Killbeat has had an artist on the Polaris Music Prize shortlist every year since its inception and 25 on the last 5 long lists as well as dozens and dozens of albums that have won or been nominated for Junos, ECMA’s, WCMA’s, NSMA’s, Radio 3 Awards, and more.
