Redgy Blackout

Redgy Blackout
Intense and theatrical, straight up rockin’, or slow and contemplative, building intricate and catchy tunes is the specialty of Redgy Blackout. Roots rock is the basis of their sound, layered with pop sensibilities and veins of funk and blues. It’s the kind of music you could spend the night dancing to, or set on repeat for that summer road trip. The stories contained within their songs are sometimes uplifting or life lamenting, but some tell creepy and tragic tales of strange circumstance. Singer and multi-instrumentalist Scott Perrie and guitar/banjo player Jeremy Breaks have been perfecting their craft since they met at an open jam in Vancouver. Both come from musical backgrounds, Perrie through the theatre and his grandfathers ‘61 Gibson J45, and Breaks through growing up in his father’s music store in Prince George. The duo’s musical vision came together with their 2009 debut “The Leap”. After a western Canada tour in 2010 they recorded “Meet You On The Other Side”, an EP with the upbeat track “Like Penguins Do” featuring banjo and kazoo! These days they are producing their best material yet, bringing a united focus and dedication to the music they create, and collaborating with top-notch musicians. They recently completed their third recording, which saw them exchange studio time to help Tom Dobrzanski build his new studio in East Van. The new EP is set for release in July 2011 and is produced by Elisa Pangsaeng and mixed by Tom Dobrzanski (Said The Whale, The Zolas, We Are The City). Last year they appeared at the Harmony Arts Festival and Deraylor Festival in Whistler and this summer they will be performing at the Harrison Festival for the Arts and alongside the Kaslo Jazz Etc Festival as part of another western Canada tour.
